Newest Rose DVD

The third DVD in The Elegant Rose Series has just been released. Faded Love is a 2-disc set with over 2 hours of comprehensive instruction with techniques and tips on how to paint a yellow stroke rose. You will learn rose structure, brush mixing, color selection and execution, a compliment of rose leaves, a rose stem, and all the finishing touches including detailed solutions for correcting muddy petals. Rosecote Classroom Resource Center

Drop into the new resource center in the Classroom. There are many books displayed that will help you with your painting, inspire you to paint more, and others that you may find of further interest. Bring your eReader. There are books available in that format too! We have added some great information about color schemes. You may really benefit from your visit to the Classroom!

 

New Website Feature

We have instituted a new feature in the shop. Now you can click on the Facebook Like button, which looks like the one above, on each one of the products in the shop.  Just click on the product image or the 'More Details' link to access the Like button.  There is no need to purchase a product to Like it, but you do have to have a Facebook account to utilize this feature.

Another New Website Feature Added

Another new feature has been instituted a new feature in the shop. We now have the ability to display associated products with each of the items in the shop. You can view the associated product(s) by clicking on the 'More Details' link under the picture of each item. The thumbnails are clickable and will link you to the detail of that specific product. We have over 500 products in the shop so this will take a little time to associate every product, so please be patient as we populate this new feature. This will make it easier for you to view related products and find out more about them.

You Asked for It, You Got It!

The Elegant Rose - Reprised is now available in a DVD! Get your copy in the shop today.

This DVD is not a remake of The Elegant Rose video (which is no longer available) that was taped in 1994. I was limited to just one hour in that video, and it was more project oriented.

With this new DVD format I am able to spend more time going through the structure of the rose. I am telling you how I think, what I am thinking about as I develop the rose, why I choose the colors I do, and I spend more time with the camera on my palette. This dvd has over two hours of instruction, up close. It is like "being there". An added bonus is that I am able to share all the little details that finish off the rose. I was not able to do that on the first video nor is there often time to do that in one day seminar. There is a lot more instruction on this DVD and it is presented just the way I teach the rose at seminars.

Over 2 and 1/2 hours of video demonstrating how to paint a stroke rose step-by-step, with written instructions, photos and color swatches. Winsor Newton has discontinued Purple Madder Alizarin. You may substitute Rembrandt Burnt Carmine which is available in the Shop.

Due to the demise of Liquitex oils, my favourite colors, Light Magenta and Medium Magenta are no longer available. The following may be substituted in those designs that call for:

Light Magenta -- Carmine Lake+ W + speck Cad Red Light (Lefranc & Bourgeois Oils) or
Magenta + Naples Yellow Light + Cadmium Red Light (Winsor Newton Oils)

Lefranc & Bourgeois has introduced an oil color called Lefranc Pink. I have been using this tube paint, and have been quite happy with the results. You may purchase this tube color in the Shop.

Medium Magenta -- Carmine Lake + Stable Violet + W (Lefrance & Bourgeois Oils)
Magenta + speck Cadmium Red Light (Winsor Newton Oils)
